In my experience, the true value of a spiritual lifestyle can be most significantly felt amidst times of confusion and strife; which seem to be pervading the global atmosphere to an ever-increasing degree in recent years. When the materialistic methods of meaning-making that once lent a sense of cohesion and comprehensibility to the culture of last century are now cracking at the seams, the recourse to Spirit is a natural one to make. However, an inevitable phase in the process of spiritual awakening in the modern age is emergence into the informational wilderness of the internet - an overgrown, digital landscape of disparate and often highly contradictory narratives regarding just about every element of life; all competing for your attention and contending for your belief. Fragmentary truths interleaved with falsehoods draw away many seekers on the path, who - not seeing the thorns for the rose - end up ensnared in the barbed bushes of intellectual abstractions, or allured into spiritualised sedation by the sweet yet insubstantial fragrances of sensationalism.
Embarking on the spiritual path is one of the most dangerous undertakings possible for a human being, second only to not beginning at all - which is a truth I see sorely neglected in the shadow of the "love and light" brand of new age spiritual culture that has remained fashionably prevalent in recent decades; persisting in its decadent denial of darkness' place in the world, as well as within ourselves. It's crucial to recognise that we live in a world of both day and night, summer and winter, ascension and descent - rhythmically alternating cycles of clarity and obscurity, pleasure and pain, joy and fear - all to provide us with the necessary tempo and pacing for our soul's development during its sojourn here upon the Earth. To view light as purely good and dark as purely evil is as misguided as believing that waking is morally superior to sleeping. An excess of light can blind or burn us, whilst the allotted period of darkness can provide us with peace, quiet, and restfulness - nighttime bestowing an opportunity for inner contemplation, bodily rejuvenation, receiving dreams, sharing fireside stories, or gazing at the stars. In the absence of diurnal activity, we find the silence we need to hear the gentle whisperings of Spirit from within.
Yet, amidst the ceaseless mental stimulation engendered by modern life, we scarcely find an opportunity for silence and stillness; an unoccupied space into which subtle guidance could flow, if we'd only let it. It's here where fluency in astrology has proved itself most useful to me: as a symbolic language through which spiritual insights can stream into our awareness from the starry firmament. Through the acquisition, application, and gradual mastery of a variety of techniques - astrological charts come to unfurl before the eyes of the practicioner, like blossoms of insight - and as attunement with these universal archetypes develops, the astrologer comes to recognise them in myriad manifestations; singing in synchronous symphony between the microcosmic inner experience and the macrocosmic outer life. The order and cohesion of the cosmos becomes an undeniable, living reality to be experienced everyday - a means of forming spiritually-nourishing relationships with the intelligences behind the planets and discerning actionable information from their movements; not merely accumulating intellectual concepts confined only to word and thought.
The guiding mission behind my work is to make my contribution to a core task of humanity in this present age: the spiritualisation of the knowledge of space. As our astrological study and attunement progresses, we learn to view the planets not only as rocky spheres and globes of gaseous matter - held in their orbit around a central star by nothing but gravity and inertia - but as the corporeal reflections of the Angelic Hierarchies in our solar system. Those creative, collaborative intelligences emanating from the Godhead, responsible for defining the parameters of our Fate, within which our Free Will finds the opportunity to be born; thereby initiating us into their divine ranks. Through sincere reverence for all of its permutations, we learn to love and cherish the mystery of life - and rather than fearing the darkness of unknowing, we become able to surrender the controlling compulsion for certainty and place our trust in the sacred order that prevails over chaos, no matter how loud the latter may become.
Walking this path, we come:
To know obscurity of the mind as the emptiness of a vessel, eager and waiting to be filled - and not to seal it by the shame of ignorance.
To feel pain as the forging strike of a hammer against hot iron - shaping and refining our Self into a tool fit for the wielding of Spirit.
To approach fear as an opportunity for courage - unique soil from which an otherwise nonexistent virtue can bloom forth.
It is in this spirit that I conduct my readings, and I hope you find my services as a waypoint along your path to find pause, replenishment, and realignment.
